This Tailwind review investigates Tailwind, or Tailwindapp, a Pinterest scheduler. Bringing traffic to your website or getting your affiliate links out into the world can be a nightmare. Especially when you are new in the field, getting seen is next to impossible.
With Pinterest, any pin can rank highly, whether you are new or have an already established presence. However, pinning can be time consuming and finding the best times to pin is impossible by yourself. You also cannot know which boards are worth pinning to.

What is Tailwind?
Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler that makes scheduling pins to Pinterest super easy. Pinterest is a visual search engine that is an important source of traffic for bloggers. In addition, it is also a great platform for affiliate marketing without a website.
You can sign-up to Tailwind here.
You can also use Tailwind to schedule Instagram posts. I have also reviewed Tailwind for Instagram.
Tailwind offers a number of price models:
In this Tailwind review, I am focussing on the Plus membership which is designed for bloggers and small businesses. The Plus membership gives you access to all relevant Tailwind features and includes:
- Five Tailwind tribe memberships
- 30 monthly tribe submissions
- 250 active Smart Loop posts
If you need more, you can buy add-ons, called “power-ups”. For tribes, you have the following power-up options:
Upgrading will increase the number of tribes you can be a member of and increase your tribe submissions. I am on the Pro plan and recommend it if you do not have a large number of followers on Pinterest. If you already have an established Pinterest profile, tribes are still beneficial but not essential.
To find out more about tribes, read my Tailwind review below.
As for Smart Loop, you can buy the following power-ups:
Each upgrade will increase the number of Smart Loop pins. Buying these add-ons may be beneficial if you are very busy but it is not necessary. I did not buy any.
You can find more information about Smart Loop below.
To keep the cost of Tailwind down, you can refer friends. For each referral, you get one month’s membership for free.
The publisher is Tailwind’s main feature. It allows you to add and schedule pins.
In the middle window you can see your scheduled pins and on the right is your schedule. This shows you when which pin is published. You can easily shuffle your queue or re-arrange pins.
Notably, Tailwind automatically detects the best times for you to pin. It will then suggest a schedule for you:
This ensures your pins will have the most visibility. However, if you are not happy, you can easily manually edit your schedule. You can also change the number of times you pin per day.
Tailwind browser extension
Tailwind makes it really easy to add pins to your schedule. Included in your plan is a browser extension (or iOS/Android app) that lets you add pins in less than a minute.
Simply hover over any image on any website and you will see the Tailwind icon:
Tailwind review – Smart Loop
Smart loop is a feature that automatically adds a pin (or a number of pins) to a list of boards. You can specify which pins you want to add to which boards. Tailwind will then add the pins for you until each pin has been added to each board.
I am lazy so I set Smart Loop to pin for me for five months. This means my schedule is automatically populated with pins and all I have to do is to occasionally add new pins and re-pins from tribes and group boards.
Another advantage of Tailwind is that you get access to a huge amount of data from your Pinterest account. For example, you can see on a glance whether your Pinterest profile is improving:
You can also analyse your pins. Tailwind allows you to find out which of your pins are your most successful ones. Consequently, you can create more pins similar to these and grow your reach.
You can also have an in-depth look at your boards. Finding your most successful boards means you know which boards are worth pinning to. You can also identify poor-performing boards and subsequently edit them to improve their ranking.
The board analysis really shines when analysing group boards. You will instantly know which group boards are worth being a member of and which ones you should drop. This is a huge time saver and ensures your pins will have the greatest chance of being re-pinned.
Tribes are similar to group boards. Essentially, you can add pins to your tribe which will then be re-pinned by other members. The main difference to Pinterest group boards is that you are forced to re-pin an at least equal number of pins to the number of pins you add.
This ensures that your pins will get re-pinned (unless they are super ugly). As tribes basically let you borrow the other members’ followers, they are ideal for new Pinterest users with a small following.
Since joining tribes in Tailwind, my pins have been getting so many more re-pins and my reach has increased dramatically.
