Minimalsim does not mean decluttering more frequently. Instead, minimalists only buy what they need. And this can include splurging on things that are meaningful to them.

To value experiences more than possessions
People are often too focused on buying the latest piece of technology or new clothes, shoes, etc. that they forget the value of experiences. Spending time with loved ones, travelling, or visiting a seminar can help you relax and grow. A material possession could never compare to that.
Investing in yourself means you are increasing your confidence. You are likely to be more positive and positively influence the people around you.
To become more intentional
Becoming more intentional means knowing the intention of why you buy something. Instead of buying something out of boredom or to improve your mood, purchases will have an actual reason.
Being more intentional is not limited to purchases. It also applies to your time. Very commonly, people agree to commitments that do not align with their values. For example, you may spend time with people that do not mean much to you.
As a consequence, you are wasting time that could be better spend with your real friends or family. Or learning a new skill. Being intentional means cutting out people that drag you down or do not add value to your life.
To stop keeping up with the Joneses
Having to have the latest phone, the newest watch, the fanciest car because you do not want to fall short of your neighbours, friends, or colleagues can be detrimental. You could end up in a never-ending cycle of credit card debt and making new purchases.
Being a minimalist means there is no reason to follow others. Because you have your own ideal and your own vision of the future, you are less dependent on your neighbours, friends, or colleagues.
To stop overspending
Due to the above mentioned reasons, you will naturally spend less. Having a few quality items means you have to make less purchases as your possessions will last longer. You will learn to be happy with an older phone or a used car.

A minimalism mindset means being more intentional and owning only things you need. Cutting out the junk from you life means you can life more freely and happily.
In its essence, a minimalism mindset is very similar to the wealth mindset. Consequently, adopting a minimalism mindset can be the first step to financial independence. In fact, retiring early due to financial independence is already part of the minimalism mindset as it means focussing your time on something that matters rather than a soulless nine-to-five job.
