For the world of matched betting Cheltenham is the single most profitable event of the year. It is an opportunity to make enough profit for a month over the course of four days. Last year, I took time off work to focus on matched betting for Cheltenham Festival full time–and I did not regret it.
This year, I am passing on my tips and trips so you can grab a slice of the cake too. Because it is such a big event with lots of bookmaker offers, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and lose track of what is happening. This means you could lose money due to mistakes and not being able to fully take advantage of matched betting Cheltenham.

Matched betting Cheltenham – how to prepare
What is the Cheltenham Festival?
The Cheltenham Festival is a horse-racing event that is held once a year, at the beginning of March. It is a huge event with multiple races held over four days, usually from Tuesday to Friday.
Because it attracts a huge crowd, even people who are not normally interested in horse racing, bookmakers offers are very generous. This means you can make a lot of money in a short period of time.
How to prepare for Cheltenham
Familiarise yourself with the schedule for Cheltenham
It is very easy to lose track of what is going on and when bets need to be placed. For example, some offers may require you to place a bet within 20 minutes before the start. You also do not want to risk backing a horse and running out of time to lay it.
For this, it is imperative that you know the schedule. You can find it on the official Cheltenham Festival website. To get an idea of what to expect, you can consult previous years’ schedules (for example for 2019).
Sign-up to as many bookmakers as possible
Many matched bettors make the mistake to wait for Cheltenham Festival to sign-up, expecting enhanced sign-up offers. However, the truth is, usually only a small minority of bookmakers will offer these.
Additionally, by waiting you risk not having your account set up on time. Sometimes, you will be required to verify your account first which can take longer than four days.
Note that you should not sign-up to shady bookmakers even for matched betting Cheltenham. Always read the bookmaker’s reviews first.
Withdraw from bookmaker accounts
There will be lots of offers making money management crucial. If possible, you want to avoid the case of having an empty exchange and £100 of free bets with 20 minutes left to place them. Especially if you are new, you want to have as much money as possible in your bank account at the start of the Cheltenham Festival.
Sign-up with Profit Accumulator
Every matched bettor needs a matched betting service. This is because it will make your matched betting more time efficient and enables you to make more money.
You are probably already signed-up, but if not get your free trial with Profit Accumulator before Cheltenham starts. You can then progress and pay £1 for your first week of premium membership with Profit Accumulator.
I strongly recommend staying signed up, but should you wish, you can cancel your membership immediately after Cheltenham is over. That £1 you paid will have probably made you several £100s by then.
Sign-up with OddsMonkey
In line with this, you can also consider signing-up to OddsMonkey even if you already have Profit Accumulator. Simply do the same as above, grab your £1 for a week trial and cancel after Cheltenham Festival is over.
Get paper and pen ready
The day will be hectic. Using a bet tracker such as an excel file is great but you may want to quickly note down the names of horses, new offers, etc while you are doing something else.
